Time Magazine Reveals President Uhuru Kenyatta Will Be Re-elected Come August

An International Media house, Time, has strongly expressed that President Uhuru Kenyatta would be re-elected come August 8.

According to a piece on its site, time.com, President Kenyatta was broadly popular and had an easy path to re-election.

It added that Kenya’s Opposition was fractured and despite fronting a single candidate to face President Kenyatta, ego had gotten in the way.

Time highlighted that Kenyans would vote relatively peacefully in August, and Kenya was in a direct path to growth.

They pointed out that political stability under President Kenyatta spelt good news for Kenya as the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has been fighting to bring down inflation.

"It’s not just the political stability that spells good news for Kenya. Kenya’s central bank is now helmed by the hyper-competent Patrick Njoroge, who continues the fight to bring inflation under control (currently at 10.3 percent)," Time expressed.

Time noted that while drought conditions had caused food prices to spike, the onset of the long rains would provide some relief.

"While drought conditions have caused food prices to spike (the price of maize is up 30 percent), the coming “long rains” season will provide some relief. And just in case state finances become precarious, the IMF is standing by to assist with a yet-untapped $1.5 billion program," the international media house noted.

Kenya was among five African countries where Time projected that there would be no much political change.

They included Angola, South Africa, Rwanda and Nigeria.
