A former traffic police officer in Nyeri County killed himself after he was transferred from Mukurweini Police Station to the regional headquarters following disciplinary concerns.
The officer, Martin Mwongera Ngutiri, was found suspended from a pair of bed sheets in his house on the new year's Day.
According to Ngutiri's colleagues, the transfer had greatly affected him alluding that it was the reason for the suicide as he had stopped enjoying the 'benefits' of a traffic office.
However, Mukurweini OCPD Johnathan Muli indicated that they were yet to ascertain the cause of the unfortunate incident.
"I was called by my officers at around 7.45pm and informed that a body belonging to one of my officers was hanging from the roof of his house. We are yet to know the motive, but all I can say is that he lately seemed disturbed." Muli was quoted by the Standard.
