Tragedy As Fire Razes Down School Dormitory

Students from AIC Chebisaas Boys High School, Uasin Gishu county were left counting their losses after a fire razed down one of the dormitories.

The Tuesday incident took place at around 5:30 am as students were in class for morning preps.

No one was injured in the fire.

Although the fire brigade responded to distress calls, nothing was salvaged from the raging fire.

The cause of the fire has not been established and hence, it is being treated as an accident in the meantime.

Reports indicate that this is not the first time the incident has taken place as the same dormitory burnt down in the same way in 2008.

It was later rebuilt, only to burn down again today.

Speaking to The Nation, Uasin Gishu County Director of Education Rebecca Butalanyi said that the students will continue with regular routine as the school’s management board comes up with the way forward.

Investigations into the real cause of the fire are underway.
