Uchumi Supermarket CEO Sacked Over Negligence and Misconduct

The managing board of Uchumi Supermarket has sacked the chief executive officer Jonathan Ciano over gross misconduct and negligence.

He was fired alongside  Chadwick Omondi Okumu and  Michael Kibe.

The two had served as the chief finance officer and human resources manager respectively.

Speaking to journalists today, Monday the board's chairperson Khadija Mire confirmed the decision by the board.

She said that a forensic audit into the operations of the company has been launched to determine the extent of damage done.

The report will be given after two weeks.

Ciano's contract was supposed to come to an end in the coming month.

The giant retailer is also currently undergoing financial crisis which led to its applying for a Ksh.500 million loan to pay its suppliers.
