Ugandan Artiste Edrisa Musuuza aka Eddy Kenzo Appointed Kenyan Ambassador by Kenya Tourism Board

The Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) on Thursday announced that Ugandan artiste Edrissa Mussuza alias Eddy Kenzo is the new Brand Kenya ambassador in Uganda and the whole East Africa region.

During a press conference at Kampala's Sheraton Hotel, KTB Chief Executive Officer Dr Betty Adero Radier explained that the move was the board's strategic plan to boost Kenya's tourism industry.

Dr Adero further outlined that out of all other East African states, Uganda's contribution to Kenya's tourism was the highest and as such, they found it prudent to pick a Ugandan national for the position.

"Ugandan tourists contribute a very big percentage on the total number of tourists visiting Kenya, we decided to appoint Eddy Kenzo because many people in the region understand him very well," the chief explained.

In reaction to the appointment, the popular singer stated: "It's a great honour and opportunity I have been given to promote the homage, culture, beauty, natural resource, infrastructure and tourism in general of my other mother country Kenya. Under the campaign Take a break #Tugendekenya #magicalKenya".

Kenyans were outraged by the announcement and took to social media to express their disgust at the appointment.

One Instagram user posted: "Then you say this government has plan for the youths, kenyan artists and people of Kenya in general??.....really ...like REALLY REALLY...??....I'M DISAPPOINTED #crying #badgovt they eat US now they are are leaving US... @president.of.Kenya#disappointment"

A post on the accolade that was put up by Mseto East Africa on their Instagram was greeted by comments from popular Kenyan artistes: Kennedy Ombima a.k.a King Kaka, Judith Nyambura a.k.a Avril and George Njuguna a.k.a Dj Creme de la Creme.
