Uhuru and Ruto Head to Kericho Days After Visit by Raila

President Uhuru Kenyatta will on Friday make a historic development visit to Kericho County, just days after a political visit by ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Kenyatta will be joined by Deputy President William Ruto in an expansive that will see the duo launcvh a number of development projects.

The Jubileee leaders are also expected to use the tour to neutralize the influence caused by Odinga who recently pitched camp in the area.

Apart from a fundraiser held at the Immanuel Africa Gospel Church in Kericho, Kenyatta has not made any other development visit to the county.

The Head of State is also expected to speak on the controversial Itare dam porject that Odinga has opposed.

During his tour in Kericho, Odinga reiterated his opposition to the Sh38 Billion water dam project in Kuresoi North following claims by some Kipsigis Council of Elders that the water project would have a negative impact on the environment.

Area Governor Paul Chepkwony welcomed the visit by the two leaders, stating that it would go a long way in benefiting area residents.

“We will be privileged to host the president who will launch road construction projects which will be fully funded by the Jubilee government.

As a county, we have benefited greatly from the government’s development agenda through projects in the health, water and road sectors,” said Chepkwony stated.
