Uhuru Congratulates Trump After His Inauguration

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday morning sent out his first request to the US Head of State Donald Trump.

In a series of tweets sent after Trump's inauguration, Kenyatta urged the US President to actualise the commencement of direct flights from Kenya to the United States.

The Head of State reminded Trump that the two countries had been “working on existing and creating new trade and investment opportunities in the region through development infrastructure.”

He in particularly insisted on the issue of flights stating: “In this regard, we look forward to the commencement of direct flights between Kenya and the United States of America.”

In addition, he conveyed his warm congratulations to Trump who was sworn in at the Capital City, Washington DC, in the presence of thousands of supporters.

Kenyatta took the opportunity to welcome the new President to Kenya highlighting the cordial bilateral and diplomatic relations the two nations had enjoyed in the past.

“I, therefore, take this opportunity to invite you to visit Kenya at your earliest convenience. As you take office, I wish you success and assure you of my support,” he asserted.

At the same time, President Kenyatta extended the invitation to former Head of State Barack Obama, reminding him of his commitment to work with Africa even after his tenure.

"In this regard, I would like to extend invitation to you to visit Kenya at your earliest convenience. The people of Kenya still remember your assurance to work with the continent after your Presidency," Kenyatta stated.
