Uhuru Orders NRB to Process ID Cards in 3 Days

President Uhuru Kenyatta has ordered the National Registration Bureau (NRB) to process Identification Cards (IDs) of all Kenyans within three days of application to ensure they get registered as voters.

Speaking in an interview on K24 Friday morning, Kenyatta stated that the move will give a chance to every Kenyan to exercise their democratic right of voting in the upcoming polls.

“It should not take new applicants weeks to get their IDs. It should be done within three days so that as many Kenyans can register and take part in their constitutional right.

“It is very important for people to register as voters because it is their democratic right. Voting is not about the leader but the day to day lives of every citizen in Kenya.” the President affirmed.

Mr Kenyatta urged all youth to turn out in large numbers and register as voters so that they can elect leaders whom they believe will better their lives.

“Your failure to register as a voter does not give you any right to complain about anything.” the Head of State affirmed.

The President and his deputy William Ruto have been touring areas perceived to be Jubilee strongholds urging the electorate to register as voters.

The President began the vote-scouting tour by retreating to his Mount Kenya backyard and has already toured Murang’a County and is expected to head to Isiolo and Nyeri on Friday.

Meanwhile, Ruto is mobilising residents to register in large numbers in the Rift Valley region.
