Uhuru's Security Blocks Ambassador from a Meeting in Belgium

A Kenyan representative to the European Union (EU) was Thursday denied entry to a venue in Belgium where President Uhuru Kenyatta was addressing Kenyans living in the country.

Ambassador James Ololo through his Facebook post expressed his frustrations after being locked out of the session despite meeting all the requirements needed to be part of it.

“I Just want to inform Kenyans that today, I was denied access to the Brussel’s hotel hall where President Uhuru Kenyatta was meeting Kenyans. Having registered with the Embassy of Kenya a week ago, having received confirmation of my registration, I arrived at the venue on time, showed my ID card, signed in and received an entry ticket,” said Ololo.

The envoy revealed that trouble began when he showed his identity card to the president's security detail.

“I give my ID to the presidential guard, he looks at the ID card with a grim face then looks at me and says. “Sit there please” without explaining why,” Ololo stated.

Ololo added that his efforts to get back his ID were futile as the agents told him to wait yet President Kenyatta was already at the venue.

He further alleged that a man identified as Kinuthia, who he described as a staunch supporter of the President, intervened and tried to explain the reason why he could not get in immediately.

“So since I thought I had a good rapport with Kinuthia, I could ask him what all this was about."

According to Ololo, Kinuthia told him: “Just sit here, they want us to go to the high table".

Mr Ololo narrated that moments later, he was handed back his documents by a new guard who revealed to him that orders had been issued to restrict him.

“Something told me that something was going on, something was not right. So I stood up and asked why they won’t let me in, by this time, everybody was gone. The new guard told me that they were not allowed to let me in,” the diplomat said.
