'Uncircumcised' Man Chops Off Wife's Head

A man allegedly killed his wife in Kiambiriria village in KieniNyeri County after she called him 'uncircumcised'.

The 33-year-old man, who sat comfortably in the living room after committing the act, is said to have beheaded the wife in front of his two children aged one and nine.

The deceased was discovered in the house after a neighbour reportedly saw the eldest son and sent him to borrow a bottle from the mother.

He answered by saying, ‘mum ameuawa na baba, lakini baba ameketi kwa nyumba’ (Mum has been killed by dad, but my father is in the house),” said the neighbour, Mr Patrick Gichunge.

Lucy Nyaguthie, a neighbour and friend to the deceased, said she confronted the man but he justified his action by stating that his wife had insulted him therefore deserved what she got.

“He told me he had finished the assignment, since there is always an end to everything. And when I asked him why he resorted to murder, he said she called him ‘uncircumcised’,” said Mrs Nyaguthie.

The man walked out of the scene after being confronted by several residents who threatened to lynch him before Police Officers waded through the crowd and took him away.

The officers found the body sprawled on the bedroom floor and took it to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary while the accused was taken to Nanyuki Police Station.

Calling a man 'uncircumcised' is deemed offensive especially in communities that uphold the rite of passage that is said to graduate a boy to a man.
