University Student Shot at 5 Times

A 34-year-old man broke into the house of a University student on Friday, and allegedly fired a gun five times aiming at her.

Naomi Sekedu, a 26-year-old, escaped narrowly after the bullets hit the wall and windows of the house instead.

Neighbours of the victim said that they hurried to the scene upon hearing the commotion and a voice said to be the accused, Gabriel Gikaru, said that he had spent so much money on the woman.

"I bought everything in this house [yet] this is what you do to me," they quoted him as saying

According to police officers who reported to the house situated behind Thika Road Mall, Mr Gikaru had suspected that Ms Sekedu had male company in the house, prompting the radical measure he took.

The officers took away Mr Gikaru, who had sustained minor injuries from the broken glass while trying to get into the house.

Nairobi CID chief, Ireri Kamande said the police had launched an investigation into the matter.
