US Government to Help IEBC in Vetting of Kenya's Voter Register

The United States government, currently under the leadership of President Donald Trump, has made its strongest commitment that it will ensure Kenya holds free and fair elections in August.

Through their Ambassador to Kenya, Robert Godec, the US has promised to provide technical experts to ensure the IEBC register is thoroughly cleaned of all ghost voters.

The Opposition team has in the last month made numerous claims of interference on the register by agents of the Jubilee Government.

However, Godec has moved to reassure critics of the register that once the mass registration ends on Thursday, a clean up will be done with the help of the Americans.

“Through voting, Kenyans get to express their hopes," Godec stated after visiting a registration centre in Garissa County.

It remains to be seen the exact involvement of the American agents given that President Uhuru Kenyatta has in the past warned that foreign nations will not be allowed to intervene in Kenya's domestic affairs.
