VIDEO: City Government Speaks Out on Gor Mahia Fans Attack Incident

The Nairobi County government has distanced itself from allegations that one of its vehicles knocked down three football fans, yesterday, in the Central Business District, sparking a rampage incident.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke City County Senior PR Officer Fidelis Mwanza claims that the said fans were hit by the private vehicle that was burnt down in the same incident.

Mr Mwanza notes that their vehicle was attacked for being around the accident scene.

According to eye witnesses, however, a City council truck ran over three Gor fans then  sped off leaving the agitated fans to settle their anger on other vehicles.

The witness said the fans who were celebrating around the Kenya National Archives building descended on a Nairobi City Council's nissan datsan vehicle that was parked along the street, tilted and rolled it before setting it ablaze.

Fans of the Kenya Premier League Champions, GOR Mahia went on rampage burning down two vehicles –a private car and a city government vehicle.

The fans claimed that a Nairobi City council van hit three of their colleagues living one of them critically injured.

The ugly incident happened as the fans went on with their celebrations after around the Tom Mboya monument, after a 2-0 win against Ushuru FC.

Meanwhile, the county government has vowed to take legal action against those found responsible.
