VIDEO: Kenyan Musician Stuck In France

A Kenyan artiste stranded in France wants to know if the government has revoked his citizenship after attempts to renew his passport failed, despite paying the renewal fee in January.

Joseph Githenji popularly known by his stage name G-rongi is a Kenyan author and member of Kenyan HipHop group Ukoo Flani Mau Mau.

On Wednesday, the rapper took to Facebook to vent his frustration in the manner the Kenyan Embassy in France was handling the renewal of his passport.

In a video posted on Facebook, Githenji says that he paid for his Passport renewal but the crucial document was yet to be processed.

"I paid for my passport in January but four months later and I am yet to receive it," he says, brandishing the receipt while adding, "I can't travel, I can't work. My life is at a standstill".

Githenji says that as an artiste, he uses his passport to move around and as a result of his expired Passport, he has missed important events in the United States of America and Sarajevo.

"The officials in this embassy have mistreated me since I started demanding for my passport. They treat me like I am garbage to the extent of kicking me out," the incensed Githenji said.

"I speak my mind but they don't want me to talk saying that I cannot be served when I am angry," he stated.

The Kenyan artiste also laments that after making demands for the past four months, he has been asked to present an affidavit for his Passport to be renewed.

He now wonders if his nationality is still intact.

"What I want to know is if I am still Kenyan or my citizenship was revoked," he posed.

Githenji has been staying in France where he is teaching English at a school in Paris as part of his Mediart Language Immersion, an interactive way of learning a new language.
