VIDEO: Keter Reveals Amount MPs Received to Stop Waiguru's Impeachment

Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter has finally revealed the amount of money paid to Members of the National Assembly to withdraw their signatures from the impeachment motion against Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru.

The vocal legislator had previously drafted a motion to impeach Waiguru over alleged involvement in the Sh791 Million scam that rocked the National Youth Service (NYS). However, the motion was dismissed for failing to amass enough support after several MPs withdrew their signatures.

Speaking on Power Breakfast, a programme on Citizen TV, Keter revealed that the MPs were paid Sh1 Million by the Executive to withdraw their signatures. He linked the compromise to high level of corruption and intimidation in Parliament.

Keter added that he had a new impeachment motion based on more allegations against Waiguru with regard to the handling of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), Huduma Centres and looting at NYS.

The MP further revealed that six of those paid to withdraw their signatures had once again signed the new motion citing pressure from their constituents.

Keter has more than once rubbed shoulders with the government for his criticism against some of its projects and uncovering alleged corrupt deals.

Recently, a section of Jubilee leaders warned him against introducing the motion to eject CS Waiguru from Cabinet claiming that it would cause a rift in the coalition.

However, Keter has continuously stood his ground clarifying that his motion against Waiguru was not personal but it aimed at ensuring equality and fairness in dealing with corruption.
