VIDEO: NYS, GSU Recruits Brutally Attack Student

National Youth Service (NYS) personnel descended on  a high school student on Friday at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, after a woman accused him of stealing her phone.

Over 100 recruits set out in hot pursuit of the boy, who was found hiding in a toilet before dragging him out and beating him despite denying the theft.

He was then released when it was realised that he was innocent. Moments later, an alleged actual suspect was identified by the victim and battered to a pulp by the personnel.

Speaking while bleeding from the nose, the suspect strongly denied the allegations saying it was not logical for him to steal a phone worth Sh5,000 and sell it for Sh20,000.

“The three men who stole from me took off and began branching away to confuse me. I ran after the one who stole from me and asked him to take my money but return my phone,” said the woman.

A report by KTN further alleged that the men threatened to assault the victim if she attempted to follow them, forcing her to notify the National Youth Service recruits.

Despite having harassed and attacked the suspects, the service men failed to resolve the matter, leaving the woman as stranded.

The dramatic event occured only minutes after Pope Francis exited Kasarani Sadium where he addressed the youth on corruption and radicalization.
