Waititu Says Raila Will Force Kikuyus to Wear Shorts, If Elected President

Kikuyu men will be forced to wear shorts if Raila Odinga is elected as President in this year’s General Election, Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu has warned.

Waititu made the ominous warning while addressing Nyeri residents who had attended the burial of deceased presiding Archbishop of the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Kenya (AIPCK) Archbishop John Mugecha.

In the Mt Kenya region, men avoid wearing shorts as they are largely demeaned and mostly worn by children.

Waititu added that once Odinga is elected, Kenyans who have their roots in the Mt Kenya region would be in so much trouble that they would be wiping their noses with elbows, unable to afford handkerchiefs.

Waititu pleaded with residents in the Mt Kenya region to register as voters and re-elect President Uhuru Kenyatta who will look after their interests.

“You remember sometimes back our people in Lamu, Mpeketoni, were attacked and 100 of them were killed. If Uhuru was not President, all their wealth would have gone to waste,” Waititu stated.

Mugecha's burial ceremony attracted a large number of local leaders, all rallying residents to register as voters in the ongoing mobilisation drive announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The one-month registration drive will be closed on February 14.
