We Will Join NASA if Musalia Mudavadi becomes Flag Bearer - Ikolomani MP Bernard Shinali Dares NASA

A section of Jubilee MPs from the Western region have sent an interesting message to the National Super Alliance (NASA) team giving a condition on what would make them join the Opposition.

Led by Ikolomani legislator Bernard Shinali, the lawmakers dared NASA to name ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi as their flagbearer and they will shift to the team led by Opposition chief Raila Odinga.

Shinali was speaking in response to Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya’s threat on Tuesday that Jubilee affiliated MPs in the region risk a backlash from the electorate.

The Ikolomani MP dismissed the threats as unfounded noting that NASA, as it's constituted now, lacks a serious development agenda for communities in Western Kenya.

He rebuffed Governor Oparanya’s threat that he (Shinali) and his four counterparts - Benjamin Washiali (Mumias East), Malulu Injendi (Malava), David Were (Matungu), and Emmanuel Wangwe (Navakholo) - were committing political suicide by associating with Jubilee.

Oparanya had cautioned the MPs to tread carefully and not gamble with their political careers by associating with the ruling coalition.

He urged the MPs to listen to the voices of the people and read the mood of the region on what the wave of the community was riding on, come August.

“I’m asking the five MPs to carefully weigh the political mood in Kakamega and stop engaging in a gamble that will backfire after the August polls,” said the governor.

Oparanya’s remarks came in the wake of another warning issued by Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale who also cautioned Jubilee leaders in Western Kenya to prepare to exit the political scene after the August 8 elections.

Dr Khalwale warned that any leader associated with Jubilee was riding against the tide and must prepare for a big loss.
