The world's focus is on Kenya this week, following the 6th Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES), scheduled for the 24th and 25th of July at Gigiri, Nairobi.
Co-hosted by President Uhuru Kenyatta and US President Barack Obama, the summit will be a chance to showcase Kenyans' entrepreneurial ideas and innovations to the world.
It will also be possibly one of the greatest opportunities for local entrepreneurs to partner with multinationals.
Local businesses, especially the hotel industry, are set to benefit from GES as the number of foreigners estimated to be in Kenya for various activities surrounding the summit is estimated at 5,000.
Apart from the summit, the Global Entrepreneurship Summit Expo has been scheduled for the 22nd -24th of July, at the KICC.
The expo, aimed at positioning Kenya as a leading African hub for tourism, innovation, trade & investment, comes as a bonus for Kenyans who will have a chance to showcase some of their products & projects.
GES is a White House initiative launched by Obama in 2009, that partners with different host countries each year.
It brings together entrepreneurs, business people, venture capitalists and foundations for a two-day conference to network, learn from each other and identify ways to improve the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Over the years, the summit has grown into a global platform connecting emerging entrepreneurs with leaders from business, international organizations, and governments looking to support them.
According to a statement by white house press secretary, Kenya's selection was based on the fact that it is an economic leader as well as a hub of dynamicism and innovation in entrepreneurship.
This is the second time the Summit is being hosted in Sub- Saharan Africa.
Previous host countries include- USA, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates,Malaysia and Morocco which played host in 2014.
1,400 delegates have confirmed attendance to the summit.
Out of these, about 700 are from Africa.
In every sense of the phrase, the Global Entrepreneurship Summit is a rare chance to exhibit and open Kenya to the rest of the world.
