Will Victor Wanyama Become Africa's Best Footballer?

Kenya's National team Captain and Southampton's Victor Wanyama will face a tough test in winning the prestigious Confederation of African Football (CAF) African player of the Year award.

Wanyama will battle it out with 36 other Elite Africans including the likes of Ivory Coast and Manchester City midfielder, Yaya Toure who has won the award in the last 4 years.

The list dominated by six Algerian nationals playing across Europe will be narrowed down to top three depending on the individual's club and country performance.

Pundits are however saying that Wanyama could possibly make it to the top three given his crucial role for the Saints last season, who finished eighth in the English Premier

This is the second time Wanyama has made it to the 37 man-list released by CAF, following a failed bid to make it to the top 3 in 2013.

If Wanyama wins, he would make history becoming the first East African Footballer to ever bag the most coveted award in the continent. The award has been won in previous years by soccer players from West Africa.
