State House has responded to claims by CORD leader Raila Odinga regarding the closure of businesses belonging to Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
Senior Director of Public Communications at State House Munyori Buku, through a statement, said that Odinga's allegations were false and baseless stating: “ODM leader Raila Odinga's false claims over the closure of two companies that do business at the port is nothing but his characteristic shallow style”.
Mr Buku criticised the former Prime Minister for delving into a matter that was outside his mandate.
The State House official further stated that the country had a Constitution and law to help any party that may feel aggrieved by any institution on the land.
“Those aggrieved have options and the options do not include the yawning rantings of Raila Odinga,” the statement read in part.
“Businesses are regulated by institutions recognised by the Constitution and the law. The companies know what to do when they run foul of the regulator,” Buku added.
State House further accused Odinga of being undemocratic citing: “His tendency to resort to heresy even when matters are crystal clear is the most undemocratic he has made Kenya suffer for 20 years”.
Earlier on Friday, Odinga picked an issue with President Uhuru Kenyatta, for allegedly directing the shut down of two container freight stations belonging to the Governor Joho's family.
In a press statement, the Opposition Chief lampooned the government, stating that the move to close Joho's business was one of the “bullying tactics being employed by the National Executive particularly to bully governors from the Opposition”.

It is reported that the stations were closed by Kenya Ports Authority Managing Director Gichiri Ndua, who gave no reason for the directive.
