A local airline has denounced any association with self-proclaimed billionaire Steve Mbogo, stating that they were in the process of suing him for claiming to be part of its board.
Fly 540 Chief Executive Officer, Don Smith, said he was outraged by the false claims Mr Mbogo was propagating in the media, as he did not know him until he posted the claim on his now inactive Website, Business Life.
“He has nothing to do with 540 and he never has. This really pisses me off and we are in the process of suing him for passing off,” Mr Smith told Nairobi News in an email copied to his lawyers.
Mr Mbogo who held an interview with Citizen TV on Monday, claimed to be a non-executive Chair of Fly 540, adding that he was a fervent businessman who knew how to invest, thus his thriving Sh13 Billion empire.
“Of course, I can’t tell you how I make every coin, I cannot disclose all my sources of wealth...I learnt the Warren Buffet style in business; You invest in more than 10,000 ideas but you have shares in the business,” he said.
Aside from Fly 540, the 29-year-old claimed to have managed two law firms, three stock brokerage companies at the Nairobi Securities Exchange, and owned Della Wine Estate.
In addition, he purpoted to be part of the team that developed Mimosa Golf Club along Ngong Road in Nairobi, and was also a non-executive chair of Youth Aviation.
Mr Mbogo has been quoted recently stating that he would run for presidency in 2017 under Party of National Alliance PONA, with his running mate being University of Nairobi student leader, Babu Owino.
