Gor Mahia Coach Abandons Team

Gor Mahia Coach Frank Nuttal has reportedly ditched the Kenyan top club to join Zamalek Football Club (Egypt’s second biggest team) where he will be the assistant coach.

Nuttal is said to have arrived in Egypt on Monday to work alongside Alex McLeish, the new head coach of the Egyptian club and former Aston Villa and Rangers manager.

The move comes a day after Gor Mahia suffered a painful 1-0 loss to their arch rivals AFC leopards in the infamous 'Mashemeji Derby' on Sunday.

It is said that Nuttal's contract with Zamaleck FC was negotiated by former Harambee Stars coach Bobby Williamson in December last year but delayed due to security reasons.

"Its true that Frank Nuttall arrived today in Egypt to take over the assistant coach position where he will deputise McLeish in a deal that was signed in December," Supersport.com reported.

In February, Gor Mahia's management was in a heated scuffle with the Scottish tactician over his salary, where he alleged the club wanted to cut his pay by 50 per cent.

The 47-year-old joined the Kenya Premier League Champions in September 2014, bagging two consecutive titles. Nuttall helped Gor Mahia finish the 2014/15 season unbeaten, with the highest record point in Kenya of 78.

Under his stewardship, the European Football Associations licensed coach also guided the club to winning the League Cup, the KPL Top 8 Cup and took the team to the finals of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) championship.
