Body of Missing Lawyer Willie Kimani Discovered

The bodies of lawyer Willie Kimani and two other persons who disappeared under suspicious circumstances last week on Thursday have been found.

Two of the bodies recovered in Ol Donyo Sabuk River were identified as those the lawyer and a taxi driver. The third one believed to be that of Kimani's client slipped into the water.

The bodies were taken to City Mortuary minutes after 8am where family members and colleagues arrived and identified them.

The discovery was made moments after Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet took action against police officers linked to the disappearance of Kimani, his client and the taxi driver.

Mr Boinnet ordered immediate arrest of the suspected officers claimed to have abducted the three along Mombasa road as they returned from Mavoko Law Courts.

The police service had earlier disputed claims that its officers were involved in the abduction after the Law Society of Kenya began exerting pressure on the department to produce the missing colleague.

The three were allegedly kidnapped along Mombasa Road after attending a case hearing, where Kimani's client was suing a police officer for attempted murder.

Kimani was an employee of The International Justice Mission, an American legal aid group.

Meanwhile, the High Court has given the Director of Criminal Investigations and IG up to Friday 2pm to submit a report on investigations over the disappearance.
