Director of Criminal Investigations Ndegwa Muhoro has revealed that city Lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi is under investigation for fraud and forgery.
The DCI boss made the revelations while responding to accusations linking him to an alleged plot to kill Ahmednassir.
The City lawyer had filed a statement with the police claiming that Muhoro had assembled a 5-man team to assassinate him out by end of March.
According to DCI boss, however, the allegations were false and an attempt by Ahmednassir to divert attention from the investigations he is facing.
"These atrocious, obnoxious, and preposterous allegations levelled against me are a desperate attempt by Ahmednasir to interfere with ongoing investigations being conducted by this office on a myriad of complaints made against him, " Muhoro asserted.
Muhoro also said that Ahmednassir's accusations could not be substantiated because he does not run a death squad in his organization. He added that the lawyer was afraid that the Directorate had gathered enough evidence to build the case against him.
The DCI maintained that the investigations would not be deterred by the lawyer's claims and deemed them as fabrications.
"They are concocted Wild West stories from rumours," Muhoro claimed.
He revealed that the lawyer in contempt of a court order issued to him and the claims were his attempts to wiggle out of the violation.
"We shall not be cowed or obstructed in our duties by red herrings.
"If by doing so we are labelled murderers and killers we shall consider that an occupational hazard and we shall leave it for the proper forum, which is the courts, to determine the authenticity and veracity or otherwise of such allegations," he told journalists.
