Bonchari Parliamentary Aspirant David Ogega Attacked During ODM Kisii Party Primaries

Bonchari Parliamentary aspirant David Ogega (pictured below) was on Thursday attacked and injured when the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party primaries in Kisii County turned violent.

The aspirant had earlier told reporters that he was optimistic about a peaceful, free and fair process despite issues determining which register to use.

"Despite the delays, the exercise has started and we hope it will be free and fair. We have agreed to use the ODM register," he had told reporters on the groundThe Star.

Witnesses say that chaos erupted at the Suneka polling station after members of the ODM party who had turned up to vote disputed over the said registers.

The Kisii party primaries kicked off with confusion after eight ballots boxes were reported missing while being transported to Bogiakumu Ward. The vehicle ferrying the boxes was reportedly attacked by unknown assailants riding on motorcycles.
