NTV's Larry Madowo Gives His Reasons for Leaving The Trend

NTV journalist Larry Madowo has revealed why he is leaving The Trend Show.

During the Friday episode, Madowo expounded on his reasons for moving on from the Show he has been hosting for the past four-and-a-half years.

“I have decided to leave The Trend after hosting it since December 2012 and I have been blessed to have had the opportunity but it is time to move on,” he stated.

First, he explained that he decided to move from the award-winning show because many people were trying to be him by copying his work.

“When you look at Friday night television everybody is trying to do what I have done. Every channel is copying what we are doing and I can’t compete with my students anymore,” he divulged.

Madowo complained about the country's entertainment industry for lacking originality with participant copying successful ideas.

“ In the success of the show, people have copied what we have done here because Kenyan TV idea of innovation is monkey see monkey do,” he noted.

He expressed his frustration and stated that he was done giving people ideas opting to do a different show on a different night but on the same channel.

Secondly, the news anchor disclosed that his schedule was interfering with his ability to give the show the attention it deserved.

“For those who watch the show, you may have noticed that I have been away a lot and thus I have not been able to give the show 100 percent so I thought it wise to step away and give somebody else that chance,” affirmed Madowo.

Lastly, he went on to reveal that he was involved in other projects apart hosting the show including completing his degree, learning a new language, doing more than 150 international trips, presenting the news and writing a column in the Nation newspaper.
