1 Killed, 3 Injured in Accident along Mombasa-Malindi Highway

One person was killed and three others injured after a matatu collided with a lorry at Roka area on the Mombasa-Malindi Highway.

According to eyewitnesses, the lorry driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the matatu before veering off the road.

The driver of the lorry, which was ferrying sand, is reported to have fled the scene after the accident.

The passenger killed in the matatu was identified as 50-year-old Deacon Charo Thoya whose body was taken to Kilifi Sub-county Hospital mortuary.

The injured who included the matatu tout, driver and a passenger were taken to the same hospital for treatment.

Police towed the damaged vehicles to Kilifi police station.
