2 Reasons Why I Won't Join Uhuru's Government - Martha Karua [VIDEO]

Narc-Kenya Leader Martha Karua on Wednesday announced that she is not interested in joining President Uhuru Kenyatta's government as a Cabinet Secretary.

Speaking at her party's offices, the former Kirinyaga County Gubernatorial aspirant explained that she was ready to work with the government but not from within.

Explaining why she was not interested she stated: "I can work with government but not as an insider with the government. I have been in cabinet and I don't wish to return to cabinet as it is now and I have not been offered," she stated.

Second, Ms Karua underscored that her interest at the moment was not to join the National Government since her focus was more on the Kirinyaga County.

"I am not looking forward to being a member of government at the national level. My focus for this particular period is in the County," she stated.

In June, President Kenyatta, while campaigning in Kirinyaga, paraded both Governor Anne Waiguru and Karua and asked the people to choose who they prefer adding that whoever loses the race would get a state job.

“Whoever will lose the elections in August will be given a state job,” the President stated.

Kenyatta urged the residents to pick their choice for Governor but vote for him in the presidential race, which they did overwhelmingly.

Meanwhile, President Kenyatta is expected to make a number of changes as he develops his new Cabinet.

Reports indicate that current Cabinet Secretaries who failed to adequately showcase Jubilee's development record during the campaign period could be fired with politicians who defected from the Opposition being hired.

It is, however, not clear when the President will officially announce his new Cabinet.
