Uhuru Announces Full Cabinet

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday made his long-awaited announcement concerning his final picks for his second-term Cabinet.

Making the announcement from State House, Nairobi, President Kenyatta stated that he had created a new Government position of Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in all ministries.

"The CAS will broadly be responsible for helping cabinet secretaries to better coordinate the running of affairs of the various ministries," the President announced.

President Kenyatta clarified that some CAS and Principal Secretary positions in a number of ministries were yet to be filled.

The names of the CS nominees are now expected to be submitted to the National Assembly to be vetted by the Appointment Committee.

Once approved, they will then officially take up the positions from their predecessors who have been reassigned other diplomatic duties.
