Matiang'i Issues 3 New Rules For School Buses

A new circular has emerged from the Ministry of Education giving specific rules to schools over the March 31st ultimatum issued by CS Fred Matiang'i to have all school buses painted yellow.

The circular informs schools that the paint to be used must be chrome and unleaded.

Also, they were issued with the specific color codes that should be used for the paint job.

The yellow must be: “pantone solid coated 012c: C 1.75 per cent M 12.23 per cent Y 100 per cent K0”.

The circular further informs school heads that the buses must be painted by a qualified painter.

“Schools are required to seek the services of a qualified painter for the work,” the circular reads in part.

The circular is dated January 25th, a day before President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed Amina Mohammed as Education CS, with Matiang'i becoming the substantive Interior CS.

CS Matiang'i had earlier ordered that all school buses be painted yellow by the end of march, in compliance with the Traffic Amendment Act 2017.

Yellow was chosen because of it's scientifically-proven high visibility.

School names must be written in black and the buses must have safety belts designed for use by children.
