CS Peter Munya in Renewed Battle with Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi

East African Affairs Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya has renewed his battle with Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi

Speaking during an interview with a local radio station, Munya divulged how displeased he is with the Governor following what he termed as 'disrespect.'

Citing incidents when Kiraitu disregarded him, the CS stated that he was unhappy with the way he was treated after being defeated in the gubernatorial race.

“At the burial of African Independent Pentecostal Church (AIPCA) bishops in Igembe (in January), Kiraitu only asked me to stand up and wave to the mourners, yet I am a former governor when even MCAs were given ample time to speak,” the CS told the radio station.

Munya also took issue with his inclusion in the advisory Meru Economic and Social Council (Mesc) which was formed by Kiraitu.

The council, which comprises more than 100 members of the Meru elite, planned a meeting which Munya did not show up for.

In his defense, the CS claimed: "I did not skip the Mesc launch last weekend because I had not been formally invited,” Munya told the FM station.

However, he emphasized that even if he would have been invited formally, he would not have attended as he was not interested in the venture.

The CS and the county boss have previously been reported of having frosty relations after Munya agreed to withdraw the petition he had filed against the county boss in January.

Munya withdrew the case after President Uhuru Kenyatta promised him a slot in his Cabinet, a promise which he fulfilled.
