Kristina Pratt Sues Businessman Over Unpaid Ksh 5Million Debt

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s elder sister has sued former captain of Karen Country Club Richard Thande for failing to repay a Ksh5 million debt.

Kristina Pratt moved to Nairobi’s Milimani Commercial Courts seeking for the repayment of her money.

Documents filed in court show that Thande breached a repayment deal reached in November 2011 that directed him to make monthly payments of Ksh 20,000 to clear the debt.

The plaintiff (Mrs Pratt) avers that the defendant (Mr Thande) has since entering the agreements only paid a sum of Sh20,000,” the documents read in part.

The monthly installments meant that the businessman would have taken 250 months or 20 years to complete payment.

The plaintiff further avers that despite numerous requests and demands in June 2018 to the defendant to refund the remaining sum of Sh4,980,000, the defendant has declined to settle the same,” the papers add.

The 67-year-old also wants Thande to be compelled to cater for the costs of the suit.

Kristina, formerly known as Christine Wambui Kenyatta, is the first child of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and Mama Ngina Kenyatta.

She is married to Victor Pratt with whom she has 4 children.

She has established many facilities for the disabled in Kenya and doubles up as an ambassador for the visually impaired.

Kristina is also a special education teacher.
