Majority Leader Aden Duale Mourns Sister Arfon Bare Duale

Majority Leader Aden Duale on Monday lost his sister Arfon Bare Duale after a long illness.

Taking to his social media, the Garissa Township MP disclosed that his sister had been battling cancer when she passed away.

"May Allah have mercy on the soul of my sister Arfon Bare Duale after a long illness (battling cancer)," he tweeted.

Following the news, Kenyans on social media sent their condolences to the legislator.

Homabay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga stated; "Our most sincere condolences. May God give you comfort during this difficult time."

"Ndugu, my condolences to you and your family," the Star journalist Oliver Mathenge wrote.

Globally, Cancer causes more deaths than HIV, TB and Malaria combined.

70% of the global Cancer burden is in low and middle-income countries (LMIC) like Kenya.

Cancer is the 3rd highest cause of morbidity in Kenya [7% of deaths per year], after infectious diseases and cardiovascular diseases.

According to the Kenya Network of Cancer Organizations, an estimated 39,000 new cases of cancer are reported each year in Kenya with more than 27,000 deaths per year.

60% of Kenyans affected by Cancer are younger than 70 years old.
