MP Conned Ksh76 Million, Car and Karen Land in Fake Notes Scam

Police have confirmed that a Member of Parliament (MP) is among eight Kenyans who were conned millions in a fake currency scam.

The MP is reported to have lost Ksh76 Million in the scheme that was operated in Westlands area by two Mali nationals and a Kenyan.

The legislator took the sum to the conmen who had promised to double the money.

He additionally sold his car and a piece of land in the posh Karen suburbs and took the money to the scammers to multiply.

Citizen TV reported that the MP, in a statement to the police, narrated that he had already lost the Ksh76 Million but kept going back to the syndicate in the hopes that the money would be doubled.

According to the police sources who spoke to the media, another Kenyan lost Ksh14 Million in the fraud operation.

Investigations have revealed that the three asked their victims to bring large sums of money promising to pray for multiplication.

The conmen were identified as Abdoulaye Tamba Kouro, his son Abdala Tamba and a Kenyan, Anthony Mwangangi Munyiva.

They were arrested on Monday in possession of Ksh1 Billion in fake notes of foreign currency.

The three were arraigned in court on Tuesday where the judge ordered for them to remain in police custody for 15 days as investigations continue.

The Malians were found to be in the country without proper documentation.
