Soy MP Caleb Kositany Wants Kipchoge Keino Pardoned

Soy Member of Parliament Caleb Kositany has asked the government to pardon Olympics icon Kipchoge Keino over the ongoing investigations into the misappropriation of Ksh55 million meant for the 2016 Rio Olympics because he is a legend.

The legislator was in the company of Turkana Central counterpart John Lodepe when he spoke at Parliament buildings.

Kositany expressed his willingness to organise a fundraising drive in order to help repay the money Keino is accused to have embezzled.

The former Chairman of the National Olympic Committee is facing corruption allegations alongside former Sports Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario, who is now serving as Kenya's Ambassador to Austria.

They were expected to appear in court to take a plea on Monday, October 15, but failed to because they were both out of the country.

The judge has ordered Wario, Keino and two others to present themselves to police by Thursday 6:00 am.

Former Sports PS Richard Ekai and two ex-officials in the ministry have denied the graft charges.

They have since been freed on a Ksh1 million cash bail each.

The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji stated that he had sufficient evidence to charge them after reviewing files from the investigating officers.

"Upon independent review and consideration of evidence contained in the inquiry file, I am satisfied that there is sufficient evidence to charge the above suspects for misappropriation of over Sh55 million," Haji announced.
