Jacque Maribe Reveals How She Met Joseph Irungu

Embattled Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe has given details on the first day she met her fiancé Joseph Kuria Irungu.

In a statement filed in the courts, Maribe revealed that she met Jowie during Jubilee Campaigns in 2017.

"The first time I met Jowie was in mid-July at Jubilee Party functions one at Bomas of Kenya and later at Kasarani," she stated.

Maribe further revealed that Jowie was working as a VIP guard to former Taita Taveta Woman Representative Joyce Lay and also a private military firm in Dubai.

Narrating the incidents of the fateful night of September 19, Maribe revealed that Jowie came to her bedroom crying and telling her that he was sorry.

"He kept crying, saying 'Jacque I am sorry. I love you' but I ignored him," she added.

Maribe intimated that Jowie later proceeded to the closet where he shot himself.

"I heard what sounded like a gunshot. I jumped out of bed and went to the closet. He was lying on the floor, he had blood on his upper left chest area," the journalist recorded.

Jacque allegedly panicked and dashed out to get her phone, when she returned Jowie was nowhere to be seen.

Maribe further indicated that on checking outside the window, she saw Jowie at their neighbour, Bryan Kassaine's house.

"I ran out and found Jowie lying down. Bryan and his wife Kate ran out to where Joseph was lying bleeding," she narrated.

In the filing, Maribe further stated that she stood with an earlier statement recorded with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) regarding her movements and activities on the fateful day.

Maribe and Jowie were on Monday charged in connection with the murder of Monica Nyawira Kimani where both pleaded not guilty.
