President Uhuru Gifted Bananas During Surprise Visit to Uhuru Gardens Primary

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday received a surprise gift of bananas from a citizen.

The Head of State had gone to visit KCPE exam candidates at Uhuru Gardens Primary School.

Shortly after exiting the school premises, Uhuru met a crowd of onlookers who had milled near the gate.

This saw him stop his convoy to greet them and engage in a short banter with the excited Kenyans.

In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, a man in the crowd requested to handover a bunch of bananas to the President.

The Head of State gave the man a nod and he proceeded to shake his hand vigorously as the crowd cheered.

"Asante sana. Hii ni ya breakfast (Thanks. I am going to have this for breakfast)," Uhuru stated.

Uhuru then instructed one of his aides to give the man some undisclosed amount of money in appreciation of the gift.

His visit came in the second day of the primary school national examinations where he promised that all candidates will proceed to secondary school.

Meanwhile, the Interior CS Fred Matiang'i has directed chiefs and their assistants to compile a list of all KCPE candidates before results are announced by the ministry of education.

The interior CS has given the order to facilitate placement and smooth transition of candidates to Form 1.

The government has taken stringent measures to curb cheating in the ongoing KCPE and KCSE exams.

On Tuesday, for instance, Cabinet Secretaries (CS), Principal Secretaries (PS) and Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) personally oversaw the opening of the 459 containers used to store exams in the sub-counties.

On his part, Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday visited Musa Gitau Primary School in Kiambu.
