BBC, KTN Announce New Partnership

International media giant BBC has announced a new partnership with Standard Media Group owned KTN.

In an exciting new partnership, the two media houses will co-produce a lively, weekly current affairs English programme for the Kenyan audience.

The production will feature an in depth look at strong African stories including a focus on issues that touch the lives of Kenyans both at home and abroad.

"The aim of BBC Africa is to showcase the diverse ideas and aspirations from across the continent in an impartial, fair way.

"This will deliver original storytelling and hard-hitting studio discussions and interviews," a description on the BBC website reads.

The journalists involved in the new venture will work across TV, Digital and Social platforms to deliver the current affairs programme.

Following the venture, the media houses have announced several vacancies including Senior Broadcast Journalist (Multimedia), reporters, editors, and broadcast journalists.

In October, celebrated Kenyan Journalist Larry Madowo announced the launch of a new show on BBC based on compelling entrepreneurship stories under the BBC Smart Money banner.

The first production of the BBC Smart Money aired on seven local channels, with Kenya's NTV broadcasting the program in Kenya with other stations being in Zambia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and NTV Uganda.

Again in November, BBC launched its biggest office branch in the world hosted in Nairobi which is also the biggest bureau outside the UK.

The event was graced by Deputy President William Ruto and British High Commissioner to Nairobi Nic Hailey.

"The BBC has moved its Africa HQ here, employing 300 people and generating new content in new languages across Africa," Hailey remarked.
