President Uhuru to Unveil Affordable Housing Registration on Jamhuri Eve

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big 4 Agenda team has finally revealed how much Kenyans will pay to own various housing units in his affordable housing projects whose registration is set for December 11.

In the 500,000 units target, a one bedroom house will be going at Kshs1 million, a two-bedroom at Kshs2 million while a three bedroom will cost Kshs3 million.

The units were also categorised based on their measurements at 30, 40 and 60 square meters respectively.

In the social housing unit category, a one-room house will cost Kshs 600,000, a double room house will go at Kshs1 million and a three-room house will be sold at Kshs1.3 million shillings.

President Uhuru is expected to launch an online portal on the eve of Jamhuri Day through which interested participants will register before depositing their monthly contributions.

The project will kick off with first units put up in Parklands while 10,000 units will be created per month.

Appearing before the National Assembly Housing Committee, Urban and Housing Development PS Charles Mwaura stated that the beneficiaries will be expected to make contributions that will hasten the constructions.

Members will provide information on their income and other personal data, after which they will be provided with an e-wallet account into which contributions will be deposited,” he stated.

The entire project is expected to be completed in the next four years and will cost Kshs1.3 trillion with a Kshs325 million annual budget.

The other big four agenda include Food Security, Manufacturing and Universal Healthcare.
