President Uhuru Kenyatta to Pay Tribute to Fidel Odinga

President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to honour Raila Odinga’s son the late Fidel Odinga on Friday when he concludes his tour of Kisumu.

EALA MP Oburu Odinga, who is also Raila’s elder brother, revealed that the president will visit Jaramogi Oginga Odinga’s home to pay tribute to Fidel.

The home visit will cement ties the two families have had over the years before politics sparked divisions between them.

"Jomo Kenyatta used to visit our place frequently as he was a great friend of my father. We are happy that President Kenyatta is also visiting when he is the President,” Oburu stated.

The first time Uhuru visited Jaramogi’s resting place was when he was the Gatundu MP. Oburu had invited him for a harambee at Nyamira Girls’ High School, a few metres from their rural home when he decided to pass by.

Uhuru and Raila who are scheduled to attend a graduation at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology will be awarded honorary degrees.

The president is in Kisumu to launch the Universal Health Coverage which is one of the anchors of his Big Four Agenda.

Uhuru also Commissioned the construction of the Ahero Interchange in Kisumu.

The President stated that his administration will continue to partner with all leaders to implement development projects for the benefit of all Kenyan.

He urged all local leaders to strive to prioritize the needs of their constituents, adding that it was one of the reasons why he and Odinga decided together.
