New US Ambassador Kyle McCarter Unveils Trump's Agenda for Kenya

The incoming US Ambassador to Kenya, Kyle McCarter, has outlined what President Donald Trump's administration will prioritise on its engagement with Kenya.

McCarter told Kenyans living in St. Louis, Missouri, that the US government was keen to help Kenya in the fight against corruption and terrorism.

The Trump administration also wants to assist Kenya to foster unity among its citizens.

In addition, the US will aid Kenya in development projects that focus on sustainability and self-reliance.

“America is a generous country but you have to always ask the question, what am I doing today that will continue if I don’t come back tomorrow," McCarter told the congregation that had attended the service and dinner reception organised in his honour.

He continued that America's great respect for Kenyans is what makes the US government invest in them.

“Kenya is poised to be a shining star of democracy in Africa and the US will continue to be Kenya’s best ally,” the envoy vowed.

McCarter will replace Robert Godec who has been in office since 2012.

In his farewell message to Godec in January, President Uhuru Kenyatta congratulated him for his service

"Kenya and US witnessed expanded relations across all sectors of cooperation including health, food security and transport, key among them being the launch of direct flights between Nairobi and New York," Uhuru stated.
