Government Land Cruiser Burnt After Killing 3

Three people died on the spot after a vehicle allegedly belonging to Trans-Nzoia County Government knocked down a motorcycle they were riding on.

The motorcycle was ferrying the pillion passengers, a woman and her three children along the Kitale-Kachibora road in the county.

In response, angry members of the public burnt down the Land Cruiser near Kipkeikei market. The vehicle was ferrying police officers.

In an attempt to scare off the angry mob, a police officer shot thrice in the air to no success.

He was rescued by a Kenya police reservist when the public threatened to lynch him.

Abel Kibet, an eyewitness, confirmed that the incident happened after the Landcruiser hit the motorcycle killing the three on the spot.

According to The Standard, the vehicle contained a firearm which was also consumed by the fire.

The driver managed to escape the scene of the crime. This comes two days after four people perished in a grisly accident in Bungoma County.

The accident that happened along Chwele road at Marakaru Trading Center involved a head-on collision between a PSV matatu and a lorry.

It is alleged that among those who died in the accident are high school students who were out on their mid-term break.
