Capital FM Replaces Anita Nderu and Entire "Hits Not Homework" Crew

UPDATE: Despite an earlier quote from a member of Capital FM stating that all the presenters of Hits Not Homework were to be re-absorbed in the company, we have ascertained that presenter Anita Nderu left the station on May 3, 2019.

Capital FM, on Friday, replaced the entire crew of the "Hits Not Homework" programme that airs weekdays from 7pm to 10pm

Speaking exclusively to Kenyans.co.ke, the station's head of radio programmes, Michael Waithaka aka W-DJ, intimated that the crew's one-year contract had ended.

While rubbishing claims that the crew had been axed, Waithaka further divulged that they were absorbed by the station but yet to be assigned other duties.

The crew included Anita Nderu, former NTV screen siren Tracy Wanjiru, DJ Jo Kisila and Anne Mwaura.

Confirming the changes at the Lonrho tower-based station, Wanjiru revealed that the quartet had been absorbed into the company.

When reached for comment, Nderu affirmed that she was still at the station but declined to divulge further.

The four joined the station's ratings juggernaut in January 2018 to replace the then presenter Amina Abdi after she switched programmes to the morning slot, Capital in The Morning.

Nderu joined "Hits Not Homework" from her role as the station's news anchor while Wanjiru left NTV's Teen Republik where she hosted with Martin Kimathi.

Earlier reports had claimed that the four were shown the door from Capital FM following the bad ratings the show had amassed over the past year.

Abdi left the show after five years where she had replaced Joey Muthengi.

Waithaka revealed that the show would relaunch soon but it was not clear who would take up the mantle following the departure of the four.
