President Uhuru Kenyatta's social media pages have been deactivated from the internet.
Both his Facebook and Twitter accounts are no longer accessible.
State House Chief of Staff, Nzioka Waita, announced that "On account of unauthorized access to the official social media handles of H.E the President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, all official social media handles for the President have been temporarily suspended to allow for the necessary remedial measures to be undertaken."
"It seems the President’s stand on corruption has generated all manner of reactions," Nzioka added.
President Kenyatta had the most followers on both Twitter and Facebook among African Heads of State.
This is not the first time suspicious activity has been noted on the president's social media handles.
In 2018, keen-eyed Kenyans noted that Uhuru had unfollowed his Deputy William Ruto on Twitter.
The then State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu responded to the gaffe in blunder on the floor of the National Assembly.
During the session, South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro questioned him on the circumstances led to the president's Twitter account unfollowing DP Ruto.
"Manoah was in-charge of the President's communication team. We saw the President's Twitter account unfollowing the Deputy President. Was it an act of carelessness?" he questioned.
Manoah attributed the act to a fault of the president's communication team stating, "That was a mistake that occurred, and both the president and deputy were explained to."
