Source of UoN Female President's Ksh2 Million Campaign Money

The newly elected female University of Nairobi Students Association Chairperson Ann Mwangi Mvurya spent Ksh2 million to finance her campaign.

During an interview with Citizen TV, the 20-year old explained how she was able to gather that amount of money.

"Ksh2 million is not easily gettable by university students. Where did you get your campaign funds from?" posed the host journalist.

"First of all, I am a businesswoman; I am not only a student but also an entrepreneur," responded Ann.

She disclosed that she sells produce from her mid-scale farm in Nakuru.

Ann also added that students contributed to her campaign and she also held a fundraiser at home.

Speaking on her striking resemblance to Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru, Mvurya stated that she wished to meet the county boss to interrogate both their lineages.

The Third Year student of Law stated that being a lady did not exempt her from demonstrating as her predecessors did.

"I believe in diplomacy. I would try every amicable way to be able to get a solution. If we won’t be listened to, then we would go to the streets. The UoN administration shouldn’t expect that just because there’s a woman at the helm of student leadership, there won’t be street demonstrations," she asserted.

Ann's most embarrassing moment was when she was disqualified from running for the same seat in 2018 because she was just a first year.

At UoN, First Year learners aren’t allowed to run for any elective office.
