Nakuru Prison Warder Who Went Missing Found Dead

A prison warder from the Nakuru Women's GK Prison, Carol Chepchirchir, has been found dead after she went missing last week.

The warder's body was found on Wednesday in a thicket at Githiroro village in Subukia, Nakuru County.

Nakuru Town East sub-county police commander, Ellen Wairimu Kabukuru stated that a report about the missing officer was made on Monday at the Nakuru Central Police Station by her father Michael Chesire.

Ms Kabukuru cited that her body, which had injuries on her head and chest, had been taken to the Nyahururu hospital morgue.

The Standard reports that officers from Nakuru and the deceased's family members had identified the boy.

A prison warden who is also a suspect, Joseph Kairu, had been arrested in connection to her disappearance as sleuths probed answers from the man.

Kairu was one of the people that had been seen with the police warder on April 3, 2019, while another, her boyfriend, is still being sought.

Nakuru Women’s Prison officer Emily Momanyi stated that Chepchirchir had not been seen at work since April 2, 2019.

“She has absconded duty for seven days now. I learnt of her disappearance when her father and brother reported to my office that they could not reach her for days,” stated the officer.

Reports by Daily Nation indicated that a detective, David Kuria, intended to press abduction charges against Kairu.
