Ivy Wangechi's Father Refutes Claims She Had HIV

Slain medical student Ivy Wangechi's father, Paul Githui Wainaina, has finally broken his silence following rumours about his daughter's horrible death.

Wainaina revealed that he felt like his daughter was being murdered for a second time with unsubstantiated reports about her being a "slay queen".

In a sit down with The Standard, he set the record straight revealing that Wangechi had been brought up as a Christian and that she was genuinely a victim of brutal murder.

“Please help me clean my daughter’s name. She was a decent, hardworking girl. The stories being circulated about her infecting her killer with HIV/AIDS are untrue. This has been discounted by tests already done.

“Ivy was brought up in a strict Christian background and is a very honest person. Her character cannot be questioned. She is a victim of a brutal murder and should not be vilified," stated Wainaina.

Her uncle, John King'ori, also refuted claims Wangechi had been given a car by her killer, Naftali Kinuthia, explaining that she did not know how to drive.

“She had a passion for medicine and was inspired by her uncles who are doctors. In fact, she was planning to specialise in neurosurgery as she was following the footsteps of her uncle, Colonel Dr Charles Mwangi,” stated the uncle.

Wangechi, a sixth-year medical student at Moi University School of Medicine, was hacked to death on Tuesday by an axe.

Kinuthia, the man accused of murdering Ivy Wangechi in cold blood, was on Friday discharged from hospital after sustaining injuries from a mob shortly after he murdered Wangechi.

Police will detain Kinuthia in an undisclosed location over the weekend until he is arraigned in court on Monday.
