EACC Boss Resigns, Major Changes Made

EACC Deputy CEO Michael Mubea resigned from the anti-graft body effective July 1, 2019.

Mubea has left EACC to take up his new job as Kenya's ambassador to Ireland.

He will replace Richard Opembe who was moved to the Kenyan mission in Madrid, Spain, which had been headed by Severine Luyali.

Mubea's exit has happened as the anti-graft agency prepares to implement a raft of changes.

EACC Chief Executive Twalib Mbarak is reported to have declined to renew the contract of Director of Finance and Planning Jennifer Kimani.

“The contract of Kimani, finance and planning director, expired on June 30. Joel Mukumu has been appointed as the acting director with effect from July, 1.

"Please take note of the changes," read an internal memo from the EACC acting Human Resource Director.

Meanwhile, Samuel Krop Ngolesia, a Prevention Officer I, was summarily dismissed over allegations of submitting fake academic papers while Richard Pkemei Topilla, a driver was sacked over bribery claims.

The disciplinary committee sat two weeks ago and recommended the said action after Ngolesia allegedly failed to honour summons while evidence against Topilla was overwhelming.

The recent changes are aimed at restoring public confidence in EACC.
