On Wednesday night, Citizen TV anchor Jeff Koinange honoured former Safaricom CEO, the Late Bob Collymore’s, wish by hosting three women CEOs on his show JKLive.
Jeff hosted Jane Karuku, Managing Director (MD) Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL), Rita Kavashe (MD Isuzu EA) and Serah Katusia (MD MediaCom).
“This is why Rita is here. I made a promise to my good friend, the late Safaricom CEO, Bob Collymore, that I bring some top women CEOs to the bench. Here we are. So Bob, wherever you are, we are now even,” Jeff stated amid laughter in the studio.
During a previous show, the former Safaricom boss had pitched his wish to Jeff, who was one of his closest friends.
“Promise me that you will do that. I have some top women leaders at Safaricom, Debrah and Rita. They have a lot to share,” Collymore urged.
“We have Anastacia, Angela and many others,” Kenya Commercial Bank CEO, Joshua Oigara, who was also a guest at the then show concurred.
“Please call us and let us watch the show,” Collymore added.
Unfortunately, the endeared former CEO did not live to see his wish fulfilled. He succumbed to cancer in July 2019.
The women MDs heaped praise on Collymore as they spoke about women leadership.
“Bob Collymore created a brand that has a purpose. That is what he left us,” Ms Katusia emphasised.
“When we look at ourselves, we hope to leave an impact in society just like Collymore did,” Jane Karuku stated.
Jeff went on to throw a birthday celebration for Jane Karuku, the KBL Managing Director.
